I’ve been really sleep deprived and I was sort of anxious tonight. She could just tell and so we skyped and she sang for me. Sang. Dis is Belle we’re talking about, her voice is gorgeous but she would never admit it.
I’m da luckiest guy in the world.
Yeah, I’ve reached dat level. Time for some shut eye.
I love Christmas in Ireland, but Christmas in America has a new special place in me heart… and it isn’t even the special day yet!
I hope everybody is having as good a season as I am.

I’m excited to be heading home for Xmas this week so here’s a pun-heavy card I made last year….don’t hate me
Haha dis is grand… everybody else as excited for Christmas as I am??
Worked hard, now relaxing in front of the TV with Georgie. Can’t wait for the holidays, what about everybody else?
Six Month Anniversary
Rory had been planning this one for a while. He knew that today was the day. What he wasn’t sure of, was how he would go about doing it. The fact that it was their half-year anniversary didn’t change too much about their date; the pair started the day off early with a light lunch at a little sandwich shop they liked to visit. The American and Irishman were always happy when they were together, yet their was something about this day that made them especially affectionate; holding hands, walking arm-in-arm and kissing briefly whenever possible.
After weighing Sarah’s advise on the day, Rory had planned to take Belle to a new art exhibit at a nearby museum. The couple strolled through the paintings happily, jabbering over this and that as the took silly pictures in front of some bizarre statues. Rory couldn’t help but be reminded of the day he met Belle at Madam Tausant’s in London. They had been so shy and so self-aware when they were with the other. Now they talked with ease and had been going strong for a full half-year as a couple. They split up for a moment in a room full of photography as Rory peered closely at a photograph of a hospital in Ghana. Realizing he had been looking for too long, the med student glanced around before his eyes landed on Belle, seemingly engrossed in an image herself.
Approaching his sweetheart, Rory put his arms around her from behind and lightly wrapped his arms around her stomach. Gazing at the image before them, a young Indian woman dressed in white stared out of the picture, tears in her eyes. Belle whispered, “It says in the description that she’s a widow. Can you imagine? She’s so young…” A note of hurt was in Belle’s voice so Rory tightened his hold before replying, “No one should know such suffering.” Belle just nodded and the pair rejoined hands before continuing to explore the showcase. This was one of the things Rory loved so much about Belle, her ability to empathize with peoples everywhere, her need to know the story so she may someday be able to tell it herself.
Later, the pair were walking arm in arm by the ice rink they had skated at a few times. They paused for a moment and watched a little girl practice long glides before marching on. They were both so happy and content, Belle couldn’t help but blurt, “I love today.” Rory smiled and pulled her to a nearby bench, “Every time I’m with ya, it’s so wonderful. I feel so lucky to have had this time together. Remember when we met?” That cracked a smile on Belle’s face, “We were hopeless at confessing our feelings.” Rory shifted for a moment, knowing what he wanted to say but not sure how to start. Hesitant, he looked once more at the little girl skating, now in the distance. “I imagine ya were just like dat once,” he began, glancing at Belle who now had a questioning look in her eye. Something about that twinkle pushed Rory on, “I’ll never know childhood Belle but ah… I just wanted to say how glad and honored I feel to have gotten to know 20-year-old Belle so well and I hope to know ya for a long time because, well.” Here he stopped and looked in her bright eyes, wondering, “I knew I liked ya from the start, ya became me best friend then da best girlfriend I’ve ever had.”
“That wasn’t too hard, though.” Belle joked, also an encouraging gesture to Rory. He smiled, relieved for it, “Yes, haha, but ya’ve definitely found your way into me heart. I mean, ya will always have a place… me family loves ya, me friends love ya…” Rory slipped a hand into his jacket then and pulled out a small velvet box. He opened it to reveal a gorgeous silver rose charm necklace made of silver. The chain was light and small, delicate and perfect of the neck it was meant for. “What I’m trying to say, Belle, is dat I love you and I’m so so lucky to have ya in me life. I hope we will be together for a lot longer than just 6 more months. I adore ya, I love you, I love you…”
Belle stopped his flow of words with a kiss to last and a declaration of her own affection that would keep him warm all winter.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YA, YA WONDERFUL GIRL!
